Seasonal Dorm Room Nomination Program for Jasper Businesses
To help address ongoing workforce housing challenges, a limited number of dormitory-style rooms on fixed-term leases at Marmot Meadows Interim Housing are being made available on a reservation/occupant nomination basis for local businesses this summer season.
This program is intended for businesses that operated in Jasper National Park prior to the 2024 wildfire and are actively working to hire staff.
Why This Program Matters
We have heard from local businesses that uncertainty around housing has been a barrier to hiring. Employers have reported being unable to confirm a position without being able to guarantee accommodation, while housing applications require a named employee. This program is intended to help ease that challenge by allowing businesses to reserve a room in advance, providing greater confidence during recruitment.
A limited number of rooms are available through this initiative. Small businesses that may have fewer housing options are especially encouraged to apply.
The Interim Housing program has been supporting the local business community throughout recovery. As of February 2026, 53% of Interim Housing residents are employed by Jasper-based small businesses. This reflects the significant role Interim Housing has already played in helping local employers retain and recruit staff and the program’s dedication to continuing to work to meet the needs of the community.
In addition to dormitory accommodations at Marmot Meadows, Parks Canada will once again operate the Resident and Seasonal Staff Camping Program from May through October, 2026, providing another seasonal housing option to support workforce needs.
Program Overview
Program Overview
- Businesses may apply to reserve a room under their company name until they hire an employee.
- Participating businesses must have been operating in Jasper prior to the 2024 Jasper wildfire.
- Rooms will be allocated through a lottery system. The businesses that are chosen will be notified and given the opportunity to pay the deposit to confirm their reservation. The remaining businesses will be kept on a waitlist in the priority order drawn.
- The intent of this program is to help businesses attract staff to Jasper and fill job vacancies by making accommodation available at the time of recruitment. Rooms are primarily intended to support new staff moving to Jasper. However, flexibility may be considered where housing circumstances would otherwise prevent an employee from accepting a position.
- Each business may only submit one application entry into the lottery.
- If selected through the lottery, each business will initially be allocated one room. If successful, businesses will be able to submit a second application, and that application will go to the bottom of the waitlist.
- For a maximum of 2 application entries
- Leases through this program will be available from: May 1- October 31, 2026.
Requests for alterations to this lease period will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Once a Room Is Reserved
- When the business hires an employee, that employee will sign a lease directly with property management (The Canadian Red Cross).
- The lease agreement is between the tenant and property management, not the business.
- If the employee changes employment while remaining eligible for Interim Housing, the lease remains with the tenant.
Deposit Requirements
Deposit Requirements

Deposit Payment
- A $500 nomination deposit per room, equivalent to one month’s rent, must be submitted within two weeks of notification of a successful lottery draw.

- If the business voluntarily releases the room on or before April 15, 2026, 50% of the deposit will be refunded
Deposit Forfeiture

Application Process
Applications received by end of day March 9, 2026 will be used in the first round of lottery.
The application will remain open for future requests, which will be added to the waitlist in the order they are received should additional rooms come available; however, space is limited and some applicants may not be accommodated – including those from the initial lottery.
