2026 resident and seasonal staff camping - applications will be available soon
From May 6 to October 12, 2026, Parks Canada has set aside 51 campsites at Whistlers Campground and 20 campsites at Sleepy Hollow to provide long-term camping for residents and seasonal staff employed by businesses affected by the 2024 Jasper Wildfire. Campsite allocation will be determined by the Jasper Recovery Coordination Centre using an interim housing priority matrix.
For more information on the resident and seasonal staff camping program, or to apply (once available) visit Parks Canada's Jasper Recovery webpage.
Parks Canada has also confirmed that Wabasso Campground contractor camping will be available again for the 2026 summer season.
General resident safety
As rebuild work progresses, conditions in the neighbourhood can change quickly. A route that is safe one day may be under construction the next, so please stay alert and adapt as needed.
- Follow all posted signage and crew directions
- Avoid active work zones, fenced areas, and equipment paths
- Do not cross or jump over open trenches or materials
- Use designated walkways and access points and be prepared to adjust your route if required
Your awareness helps keep everyone safe during ongoing construction.
Food waste and construction waste do not mix
As winter conditions set in, our teams have noticed an increase in food waste being placed in construction bins. This creates a significant wildlife attractant, particularly for ravens and magpies, and can lead to broader safety and environmental concerns.
Everyone is reminded to keep food waste, wrappers, and personal garbage out of construction waste bins. All food-related waste should be disposed of properly and stored in wildlife-resistant containers.
Keeping construction bins free of food waste helps reduce wildlife interactions and supports a safer work environment for everyone.
Securing materials and shared responsibility on rebuild sites
As rebuild activity increases, we want to remind everyone of the importance of securing materials and respecting neighbouring sites. Recently, there have been incidents of construction materials being removed from active rebuild lots without permission. While investigations are ongoing, this serves as an important reminder for the industry as a whole.
Everyone is encouraged to:
- Secure materials and equipment on site wherever possible
- Clearly label stored materials to avoid confusion
- Respect other rebuild sites and property boundaries at all times
If you experience theft, suspicious activity, or damage to your site, please report it promptly to the RCMP and notify the Municipality so concerns can be tracked and addressed.
If on-site storage is not feasible, designated laydown yard options are available. If you are interested in these offsite laydown options, please email JRCCinfo@jasper-alberta.ca.
We know the rebuild process is demanding and that everyone is working toward the same goal. Continuing to act with professionalism, respect, and care for one another’s property helps ensure a safer, more collaborative rebuild for the entire community.

Online utilities map
The MoJ has set up online utilities map that shows the approximate location of water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure in town. This information can be helpful in preparing site plans and knowing where to plan to connect to municipal services. Link: https://www.jasper-alberta.ca/p/utilitymap
Need power?
Apply to get your power and natural gas services reconnected. You'll need to submit a 'new connection request' to ATCO Gas and to ATCO Electric here to get that process started: https://www.atco.com/en-ca/businesses/atco-energy-...
Once you've submitted an application, a representative from ATCO will reach out to you to confirm details about overhead or underground connections and tie-in procedures.
You should submit service connection requests ahead of the time that you need power or heat so that ATCO representatives will be able to work with you to finalize the connection plans to avoid delays in your construction process.
