Municipal Underground Servicing Coordination

Fire-Affected Areas - Jasper, Alberta

The Municipality of Jasper has awarded Phase 1 underground water and sewer infrastructure work in fire-affected areas. Construction begins in May. This bulletin outlines what builders and contractors need to know to coordinate servicing work with the municipal program.

A detailed work plan and schedule will be available online at https://www.jasper-alberta.ca/p/servicesproject, and impacted residents will receive additional information directly as it becomes available.

Phase 1 includes replacement of curb stops (CCs), associated service connection work, and in some cases extension of municipal servicing toward private properties to support future rebuilds.

Phase 1 Work Areas

  • Cabin Creek
  • Lodgepole (R4)
  • Maligne Avenue / Miette Avenue

Coordination Requirements by Rebuild Stage

If construction has not yet started: Municipal servicing work will proceed ahead of construction. This is intended to simplify future private servicing connections and reduce coordination requirements during your build.

If construction is currently underway: Contact Municipal Operations before completing any servicing work. Depending on your site, a one-off curb stop replacement may be required, and your servicing plan may need to align with the municipal program. In some cases, properties where servicing has already been completed independently may be removed from the municipal tender scope.

If construction is already completed: Required servicing work should already have occurred. No interruption is anticipated, though future municipal infrastructure renewal in areas may require additional coordination down the road.

Property Access - Agents of the Municipality may require temporary access to portions of private property adjacent to the municipal right-of-way to complete underground servicing work.

Cost - There will be no cost to leaseholders for work associated with Phase 1 of this project.

Additional information about future phases of underground infrastructure work will be shared as project details and scheduling are finalized.

Phase 2 Notice

Phase 2 has not yet been tendered. This phase of work is expected to being in late June and will involve more complex work, including water main renewal and sewer rehabilitation. Builders working in Phase 2 areas should be aware that future main replacement work may affect existing lateral connections and require coordination with Municipal Operations.

Advance Notice Required

Where services require replacement or a new connection to the main, contractors must contact Municipal Operations at least 48 hours before any work within the municipal right-of-way.
