Parks Canada approves changes to the Compact Lot (R4) District and other updates to the Jasper Land Use Policy

20 March 2025

Industry Bulletin (#1) is to inform members of the building industry of changes to the Land Use Policy and Architectural Motif related to manufactured homes and the Compact Lot (R4) District which applies to properties in the mobile home area.

On March 14, 2025, Jasper Field Unit Superintendent Alan Fehr approved changes to the Jasper Land Use Policy and Architectural Motif to support residents in rebuilding their manufactured homes after the fire and replacing manufactured homes that have reached the end of their lifecycle. Other changes were approved to simplify and clarify some existing development regulations. The policy changes to the Compact Lot (R4) District will remain in effect until March 31, 2030, with minor amendments as necessary. The policy requirements will be re-evaluated as part of the future Jasper Community Plan review process.

The attached information sheet provides a summary of changes both to the Compact Lot (R4) District, also known as the Mobile Home Area, and the other general Land Use Policy changes.

Parks Canada is in the process of updating the public content on the manufactured home and the Land Use Policy webpages. To ensure that builders and industry working directly with these documents have the most up-to-date information the specific red line versions of the changes are included in this industry bulletin.
