We Need Your Feedback on Changes to Council Pay
The Municipality of Jasper wants your thoughts on changes to how we pay our Council, starting after the 2025 election. This review helps candidates know about their pay before deciding to run. Candidates can start announcing their run from January 1, 2025.
What We're Proposing:
- A higher fixed salary, no more pay-per-meeting (per-diems) for Mayor and Councillors.
- The Mayor's job will be full-time, with a salary increase from $81,816.24 to $114,417.
- Councillor salaries will rise from $19,805 to $36,056.
- Salary increases for inflation will happen only once every four years, not every year.
Why It Matters:
- We want to make sure the pay is fair and clear.
- Your feedback helps us decide if these changes will inspire more people to consider running for office.
